Adding Existing Custom SmartFences to Tasks

In this post we are going to show you a new way to enhance staff monitoring by using existing SmartFences with tasks. Normally you would create a Default SmartFence and then apply that rule to one or multiple tasks at a time. You could also create a Custom SmartFence right from the task screen. But what if you already had some rules that you created beforehand and just wanted to attach them to a task? Well, we also thought of that question and came up with this solution!

In our example company, we have already created a rule called "Clock Out Lock: Marshalls", hoping to use it once we have a project in that specific location:

We can confirm that we have a Clock Out Lock rule created which has been attached to this specific SmartFence:

It's important to mention this because you need to make sure that you have correctly configured a SmartFence with the rules and actions you need in order for the task to be able to use it properly.

Since we are ready with the fence, we can now go to the Administration tab and select "Maintain Task/Customer List" from the Basic section:

Then we are going to find a task called "Marshalls" in one of our teams and click on its Task ID:

Once inside the task, we should look for the "SmartFence" option, which will have a dropdown menu with "None", "Default" (which is the case we described in the beginning), and "Custom", which is the one we want right now:

When you select "Custom" a new dropdown menu containing all the existing fences will be shown. Here is where we are going to select the "Clock Out Lock: Marshalls" rule, which we created specifically for this task. Then, click on "Save" on the left side:

If you need to make any changes and switch to a different SmartFence, you can always do so by going to the specific task (remember the step where we click on the Task ID), and you will notice that the "Change To:" dropdown menu will already be available. So, select your rule and click on "Save" as needed:

This feature will also be available whenever you are adding a new task as well, not only for existing tasks:

We hope you like this new feature. let us know what you think in the comments section!
